TRUST MUST BE EXPLAINED

The SAW
Standard.

Clear labels. Disclosed relationships. Equipment judged by the work it must do.

02 / HONEST STANDARDS

What every rating means.

The strongest label a product can earn is based on evidence, not advertising spend. When our experience is limited, we say so.

01

SAW Tested

Robb or Blake has physically handled, used or evaluated the product. The listing should identify what was tested and any important limits; this label does not promise perfection or universal suitability.

02

Build Proven

The product or method has been installed, carried or demonstrated on an actual SAW motorcycle, vehicle, shop project or field system. We explain the application so customers can judge whether it matches theirs.

03

SAW Recommended

SAW researched specifications, reputation, support, value and intended use, but has not represented the product as personally tested. The reasons for recommending it should be stated clearly.

04

Partner Listing

The manufacturer, dealer, installer or supplier has a commercial relationship with SAW. Compensation, commission or supplied products never automatically earn a tested or recommended label.

05

Unrated Listing

A product is available through the store, but SAW has not completed enough evaluation to apply another label. Availability is not an endorsement.

03 / REAL CAPABILITY

Designed around failure, repair and use.

Capability is not the longest feature list. It is the ability of a person and their equipment to keep doing useful work under the conditions they are preparing for.

01

Fit the mission

Capability starts with the customer’s actual use: staying home, evacuating, traveling overland, working off-grid or improving an established system.

02

Work when conditions are poor

We favor equipment that remains understandable and useful during outages, bad weather, rough travel, limited communications and other realistic disruptions.

03

Repair over replacement

Serviceable construction, available parts, replaceable filters and consumables, repair kits, common fasteners and clear documentation raise a product’s practical value.

04

Build complete systems

A good component must connect to storage, power, mounting, transport, maintenance and replenishment. SAW shows compatible parts and recurring supplies whenever possible.

05

Be honest about limits

No product solves every problem. Weight, cost, capacity, climate, skill requirements, maintenance and failure points belong beside the benefits.

06

Prove original designs

SAW-built motorcycles, equipment and Redtail technology progress from concept to prototype, controlled testing and documented field use. Development work is labeled as development.

COMMERCIAL DISCLOSURE

Sales do not rewrite the verdict.

SAW intends to earn money through direct sales, dropshipping, referrals, affiliate commissions and supplier partnerships. Those relationships will be disclosed. A paid relationship does not turn a listing into a test, and criticism will not be removed simply because a product earns revenue.
